A little throwback to my early days as a young, enthusiastic video editor!Β
Many years ago, I was collaborating with a nationwide brand on a TV commercial, and we were just wrapping up the final touches on an additional, fun bonus spot.Β
π₯ Boom! Right at that moment, our high-end, top-of-the-line editing system crashed. π±
It was a weekend, so tech support was limited, but guess what? We did not let that get us down.Β
We had already completed the main commercial, so our client’s needs were met.Β
Still, that experience taught me a priceless lesson: the significance of redundancy.
Having a super-fast computer is fantastic, but what if it crashes mid-project, especially when you are on a deadline? π€
The answer is redundancy! Here is my golden advice: invest in two computers!
One computer should be fast enough to get your work done, and the second can be a backup to keep you going if the first one crashes. Better yet, make the second one a laptop so you can work on the go! π
So what we would normally spend on one super duper fast computer we could get two, one main “not as fast” computer and also a second slower (even older) system for redundancy.Β
Ever since that experience, I have prioritized redundancy in my workflow.
It is not always about having the fastest computer, but rather ensuring seamless, uninterrupted work. πͺ
